An electronic rate control is an important addition to any sprayer. The rate control makes the sprayer a precision applicator, which is necessary in today's crop protection environment. We offer a rate control option on our sprayers that senses the ground speed of the sprayer and flow rate to the spray booms. It automatically regulates spraying pressure to ensure that the application rate remains constant. If the tractor driver speeds up or slows down, the rate control keeps your application rate constant. If the driver shuts off one side of the spray boom, the rate control keeps the application rate constant on the boom still spraying. This is an important feature on any sprayer. Keeping the application rate constant minimizes instances of chemical over-application that waste chemicals or cause crop damage. It minimizes instances of under-application that can reduce the effectiveness of the chemical or require additional applications. The rate control we offer for our sprayers consists of a computer switch box that mounts inside the tractor cab, a magnetic speed sensor mounted near the sprayer wheel, a flow meter mounted on the sprayer, electric valves mounted on the sprayer, and a junction box for all component wiring. The rate control console itself is very simple to program and operate. During spraying operation it displays tractor speed, spraying pressure, actual GPA (L/Ha) application rate, gallons (liters) sprayed, and acres (hectares) sprayed.
