| The name superbedder came from our customers. There has
always been equipment available to raise and shape a bed, but nothing before
the Kennco superbedder produced a perfectly shaped bed. Other equipment would
always leave a low center or edges that would collapse. We built our reputation
with a product that produces a finished, complete bed, hence the name
superbedder.
Planting crops on top of a raised and shaped bed is very popular in vegetable production for many reasons:
Our basic superbedder consists of a frame with mold board plows, also called "sweeps," that roll the soil into a press pan. The press pan is what shapes the bed, compressing the soil as it passes through the pan. Each press pan is custom built to the customers height and width specifications. With a superbedder, you can do more than just raise and shape a planting bed. Our superbedders accept gas knifes and bottle racks so you can apply a fumigant into the soil of the bed as it is shaped. We can mount fertilizer hoppers or liquid tanks on our superbedders so that you can apply dry or liquid fertilizers, or a soil incorporated herbicide, during bed formation. Our superbedders are available with an attachment that allows you to lay drip-irrigation tape either on or below the bed surface. Our superbedders will also accept an attachment that allows you to lay plastic mulch while you are shaping your raised bed. |
